Frequently Asked Questions

  • Currently all therapy services are online only, with the exception of limited walk & talk therapy services for clients living in or near the Fort Worth, TX area.

At this time I can only provide services to residents of Texas, Ohio, or Colorado and you must be present in your home state at the time of our sessions.

  • I use a platform called Simple Practice. Simple Practice will send a link to your email prior to all of our scheduled appointments. You will need to have access to a smart phone, laptop, or other similar device that has both video and audio capabilities. If you are participating in EMDR, something like a laptop or tablet with a larger screen is ideal, but not a requirement.

If you have any questions about this, or experience any difficulty accessing your session link, reach out and let me know.

  • Currently the only in-person session option that I offer is walk & talk therapy in the Fort Worth, TX area. This is a limited service and is not always offered. For more information about this, head to the Services page or schedule a consultation to chat further.

All other counseling services are only offered virtually via telehealth.

  • The only difference between in-person and virtual therapy is the location where our sessions will take place. Instead of us meeting face to face in an office, we will meet via a virtual telehealth video platform. This also means that you get to attend your sessions from the comfort of your home, which can sometimes even help enhance the therapy experience, and saves a lot of drive time!

If you've never tried virtual therapy before, don't let the idea of it scare you! If you think that we would be a good fit, I encourage you to reach out.

While virtual therapy may not be right for everybody, there really is not much difference in the therapeutic process. As long as you have a private space and a stable internet connection, virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy.

If you have any questions about virtual therapy, let's talk about them! I'd be happy to help you decide if this option is right for you.

  • If you are interested in traditional talk therapy (instead of EMDR, Walk & Talk therapy, etc.) and think we would be a good fit, please reach out! Although I specialize in other experiential or somatic forms of therapy, I value and continue to practice traditional talk therapy every single day! Talk therapy is my foundation and is still always a core part of the other experiential therapies I offer as well.

At the heart of my work, I strive to create a calm, comfortable environment for you to show up authentically without judgement. Whether that means we're doing EMDR or verbally processing is up to you.

Even talk therapy is much more than "just talking" and the therapeutic process can be beneficial for anyone.

  • I am not a crisis counselor and I am typically only able to be reached during office hours. Although I will do my best to be accessible to my clients as needed, it can sometimes take me at least a full business day to respond.

If you are experiencing an emergency and need help immediately, you can call 911, 988, or go to your nearest emergency room.

**Before calling 911 or 988: If you or someone you know is in immediate, life-threatening danger and decide to call 911 or 988, please be aware that police are often not equipped to offer mental health support and may even pose danger to people with strategically undervalued identities. It is a good idea to reach out to someone you trust who can be present to advocate if you need to call the police or an organization that may utilize police involvement.

  • Yes, I am able to accept:

    • Aetna insurance for clients residing in Texas, Colorado, and Ohio.

    • BCBS for clients residing in Colorado and Ohio (*not Texas*)

    • Cigna for clients residing in Colorado and Ohio (*not Texas*)

    • Soon I will be able to accept UHC for clients residing in Colorado and Ohio (*not Texas*)

I am also able to provide a superbill for out-of-network clients that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Please note that utilizing insurance gives the insurance company access to your protected health information (PHI). Insurance also may not cover all services and tends to limit the duration/frequency of services you can access.

Additionally, in order to make therapy more accessible without involving insurance, I offer a limited number of reduced rate sliding scale spots. If you feel you may benefit from this and would like to talk further, please reach out.

  • Cancellations that are communicated to me at least 24 hours prior to our scheduled session time will incur no charge. This means that if our session is scheduled on Tuesday at 2:00 PM, then you will need to cancel the appointment no later than Monday, the day prior, at 2:00 PM to avoid any late cancellation charges.

Cancellations under 24 hours prior to the scheduled session time are considered late cancellations and will still be charged the full session rate. Superbills will not be able to be used for reimbursement for late cancellation fees and insurance cannot cover these fees.

If an appointment is missed without any notice, this is considered a no-show and will be charged the full session rate.
