You deserve to live authentically and be accepted fully.

In today’s world, it can feel difficult to know whether it’s safe enough to let people in. As a queer person, it can be especially exhausting feeling like you need to keep your guard up all the time.

Maybe you feel alone and are just starting to explore your sexual or gender identity. Or maybe you just want a safe, affirming space where you can show up as yourself and work on something else entirely without wondering if your therapist “gets it.”

Who you are is more than enough, and if you’re still figuring out who that is, you’re in the right place.

Have you ever felt like you were on the outside looking in? Or like other people just couldn’t quite understand you? Maybe you’ve even asked yourself, “is there something wrong with me?”

Sometimes, the people we love the most are the ones who hurt us the worst. Maybe it was your parents, or the church, or even your best friend, who swore they’d be there through it all. Maybe you grew up in an environment where being gay was a “sin” and using someone’s correct pronouns was a topic that was up for debate. There’s no blueprint for how to navigate the pain caused by the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally.

Therapy can feel really vulnerable. It’s supposed to be about healing, not defending yourself or educating your therapist. This is meant to be a place where you can bring the most vulnerable, raw parts of yourself to the table and not be judged or questioned, including all aspects of your queer identity.

The work that we’ll do together will always be guided by you, and will always prioritize your safety and comfort. I’m here to tell you that you matter and you belong exactly as you are.

WHAT WE’LL DO TOGETHER

Get Comfortable

When we first meet, we’ll spend time getting familiar with each other and talking about what’s brought you in. Therapy looks different for everyone, so together we’ll decide on counseling goals that fit your unique situation.

Hold Space

Once we know what our goals are, we’ll make space for the work to start. We’ll learn to honor our emotions, the pleasant and the not-so-pleasant, learn how to improve our relationship with ourself and others, and lean into authenticity.

Start Thriving

We’ll learn to not just survive, but thrive. We’ll let go of shame and fear and you’ll get to see what it feels like to fully embrace your true self.

Common questions about LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy:

  • LGBTQIA+ people face disproportionate amounts of discrimination and barriers within the healthcare system. As a therapist, I strive to be an active part of dismantling this unjust system by providing an environment where you are not only accepted as you are, but celebrated.

Queer and gender affirming therapy takes into account the multiple intersecting identities that each of us has, including our sexual and gender identity, our race, culture, economic status, education, religion, etc. without judgement, trusting you to be the expert on yourself, and not attempting to change who you are on our path to healing.

  • Yes. I am trained to write these letters according to the WPATH standards of care. It is my goal to minimize gatekeeping when it comes to accessing gender affirming care. If this is something you’re needing, schedule a consultation so we can chat further.

  • This is totally normal and you are welcome here! If you’d like, we can even explore this more in our work together. You also do not have to identify as LGBTQIA+ to work with me.
